Hey!
I'm Dan, a professional therapist with a B.A.(Hons) in Counselling. I’m registered with the ACCT as well as the BACP and am the founder of Coping Counselling. I have over 10 years experience working with young adults and young people in counselling and other professional capacities. I am a very relational person who is highly skilled at listening, empathising and equipping people to face whatever their challenges, whatever they might be.
As a person, I’ve been there… from feeling as though I’m thriving in life and on top of my game to being in the pits of despair, feeling as though I’ve lost everything and broken inside. Whatever you’re going through, know you’re speaking with someone who also has been on a journey… made good decisions, bad decisions and everything in between. My heart and ambition is to help you through your unique journey, whether you’re on top of the mountain or deep in the valley.
I would describe myself as very grounded, empathetic, spiritual and genuine. I decided to pursue a career in counselling out of my natural ability to be able to connect with people and build meaningful relationships. I believe every human being is worthy of love and forgiveness, every one should be valued and appreciated for who they are.
My hobbies include skateboarding and drumming, I’ve been heavily invested in these hobbies since I was a child and their culture have helped shaped the person I am today. The ‘outcast’ nature of skateboarding helped me realise we should all be valued and accepted, regardless of what our hobbies / interests are or whether they’re ‘accepted’ in main stream society. Skateboarding in fact influenced the name ‘coping counselling’.
Whatever your race, sex, culture, background or belief system, I am here and ready to connect with you!
